Deb, I saw this article this weekend too and thought it was interesting that some of the usual suspects of tourism sites were not on the list.  It's always nice to find out about cool new places that are a little off the beaten track.

The only one I can check off from this list is the Battery District in Charleston, S.C. In fact, we were just there this summer.  Here's the very cool St. Michael's Episcopal Church, which is the city's oldest church (I think.  That tour is starting to fade in my memory already!)

It was very cool, though.  Across the street from it is a very old graveyard that is the final resting place of the real-life inspiration for Margaret Mitchell's Rhett Butler!  That area of town was neat with all its tiny streets and alleyways, but I must say, we had to stop our touring short because it was SO hot and humid and I was attacked by a gigantic swarm of mosquitoes.  I'm not even exaggerating, I think at one point I had 17 bites all over my body.  Plus, we were lugging around some dead weight:

She was a tuckered out tour baby! Hopefully she can stay awake if we try to visit the other spots on the list!

I love NYC. I'm so lucky to have been there 3 times. The last visit was for 2 weeks. I was worn out. I go all over the place trying to see as much as I can. I saw 5 Broadway shows! My favorite was Jersey Boys. I went as far north as the NY botanical gardens in the Bronx, and as far south as Coney Island. There is more to see than you could ever do in a lifetime.

My husband and I made a list of the places we'd like to visit, if money were no object. Every year, we take a look and see which cities are reasonable, and try and visit at least one of them!

Recently, we've traveled to Paris/London, Chicago, Seattle/Portland, Boston, NYC, and we're now working our way around the state of Florida. We're hoping for a trip to Europe next spring!
