Did you work out today?

My legs are *still hurting from my 5:45am spinning class -- but man, do I feel good!  It's so hard to get out of bed in the morning, but once my feet hit the floor, I don't let myself get back under the covers.  And as soon as I am done with the workout, I know that I've at least gotten one good thing done for the day!

What is your typical workout?  Do you hit the gym every day?  Run a mile every other day?  Play with the grandkids?

Here's a picture that inspires me ... hopefully it will help you.

Actually I workout most days of the week.. I started weight training on May 21, 1987 and have kept a log of all my workouts. I never dreamed back then that I would still love it.. Today I logged my 5000th workout with weights.. I also rode my bike today with a client of mine who is also a member of Growing Bolder, Metro Mike.. And if it cools up just a hair I will run 2 miles tonite..

Like both of you fellows, we have to be properly inspired to work out, whether it's the photo (nice photo, by the way) or maintaining a streak like Cal Ripken.

Another inspiration is to train for a specific sport, so that your improvement in fitness shows up in your game. A professional athlete who did just that is Dianne DeNecochea, a professional volleyball player who, like Dara Torres, conquered the big 4-0 and motherhood and made it to the quarter-finals of the 2008 Olympic trials. She will be interviewed Wednesday, August 13, at 6 p.m. PT, 9 p.m. ET: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/dryessis” to discuss volleyball, fitness, and her training with Dr. Yessis, who is professor emeritus at Cal State Fullerton and gives advice on sport-specific training at http://www.dryessis.com.

Dr. Yessis won't teach you how to throw, run, swing or catch, but he'll teach you how to do each of those things better and help you become the athlete you always wanted to be. Please listen, call-in with questions, and come to his site.

Fred, Thanks for your note.  Yes, we're his online publisher, so we work with him on his website and online radio show. We're also launching an email newsletter pretty soon here.  I'm glad to hear you're a fan.  I'll let him know!

I workout every day.  During Spring, Summer or Fall either I cycle, run or inline skate.  During the winter I'm confined to the indoors and I run on a treadmill or ice skate.

I love the feeling of a good workout and by working out every day I can eat almost anything I want.  That's very important to me.  I love food!

I'd rather be a couch potato! I envy you people who;JUMP out of bed to enjoy a good work out. I've never been able to do that....I have to work up to working out...For me a good work out is half an hour with my Grandsons...Walking behind them to the park....That's my favorite kind...(Good is RELATIVE, Isn't it?)

Noooot me!!! I gotta turn up my music and walk on a treadmill, cause I fall a lot....and my fella don't want me to walk to far....(Mother started walking last fall and we haven't seen her since!)

My brother bought me a stationary bike...so I don't go to far and get lost....This is such a big town and I've only lived her about thirty years.....this time......I grew up here! I have a "real bike" but ---if I fall off they have to call an ambulance (and some very strong men)to get me UP again....

Have you ever seen how they get a truly obese woman off the ground??? They get a back board, roll her  on like a doodle bug pushing a horse pucky!

Then very slowly and with great effort, about eight of them lift the back board!)

It ain't a pretty sight.....Excuse me....I need to go walk a half an hour on my tread mill.....maybe by the time the snow flys.......they will let me ride the REAL bike! If I chain it up!!!

I try to work out 5-6 days a week -- some really intense exercise, and some a little more low-key.

Our cable provider offers free on-demand Exercise on TV which has been great! If I don't feel like leaving the house, I can get a series of free workouts that are fast and fun.

After living for a couch potato for a long time, I started training for triathlons. I've done three, had a blast, and am now training for a half marathon.
