Did you work out today?

My legs are *still hurting from my 5:45am spinning class -- but man, do I feel good!  It's so hard to get out of bed in the morning, but once my feet hit the floor, I don't let myself get back under the covers.  And as soon as I am done with the workout, I know that I've at least gotten one good thing done for the day!

What is your typical workout?  Do you hit the gym every day?  Run a mile every other day?  Play with the grandkids?

Here's a picture that inspires me ... hopefully it will help you.

Actually I workout most days of the week.. I started weight training on May 21, 1987 and have kept a log of all my workouts. I never dreamed back then that I would still love it.. Today I logged my 5000th workout with weights.. I also rode my bike today with a client of mine who is also a member of Growing Bolder, Metro Mike.. And if it cools up just a hair I will run 2 miles tonite..

Like both of you fellows, we have to be properly inspired to work out, whether it's the photo (nice photo, by the way) or maintaining a streak like Cal Ripken.

Another inspiration is to train for a specific sport, so that your improvement in fitness shows up in your game. A professional athlete who did just that is Dianne DeNecochea, a professional volleyball player who, like Dara Torres, conquered the big 4-0 and motherhood and made it to the quarter-finals of the 2008 Olympic trials. She will be interviewed Wednesday, August 13, at 6 p.m. PT, 9 p.m. ET: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/dryessis” to discuss volleyball, fitness, and her training with Dr. Yessis, who is professor emeritus at Cal State Fullerton and gives advice on sport-specific training at http://www.dryessis.com.

Dr. Yessis won't teach you how to throw, run, swing or catch, but he'll teach you how to do each of those things better and help you become the athlete you always wanted to be. Please listen, call-in with questions, and come to his site.

Fred, Thanks for your note.  Yes, we're his online publisher, so we work with him on his website and online radio show. We're also launching an email newsletter pretty soon here.  I'm glad to hear you're a fan.  I'll let him know!
