A Bipartisan Ticket in '08?

Campaign 2008 is just heating up, as we get closer to knowing who the Democratic candidate for president will be.  On the Republican side, John McCain has been the presumptive nominee for weeks, but the big question for him is, who will he choose as his running mate?

McCain acknowledged the interest in an appearance on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart":


And that got us thinking -- what if McCain selected a Democrat as a running mate, and what if it was either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton (whomever did not win the nomination of the Democratic party).  It could help McCain bring some Democrats over to his side; it would also help him ease the "age" argument, from people who say he is too old to be our commander-in-chief.  It would help Republicans sway some who say the parties are too divided.  And it would certainly help whichever Democratic candidate did not get his or her own nomination!Far-fetched?  Maybe!  But let's talk about the possibilities.  What do you think?
