Anyone Having Getting SSI or Social Security Disability?

While I am now 64, I have not been physically able to work since I was just over 46.
Mine was a work related injury, and even though I has in excruciating pain even after corrective surgery, and a year or so later, I even had a bone spur grow through a ligament in my neck, as well as through my Spinal Cord.
All of these problems caused more problems with three herniated discs in my L-Spine, and I also have T-Spine problems.
Since I needed every cent I could get, I decided to complete my own application for Social Security Disability.
I have heard of so many people who have been turned down, and they either give up, or hire an attorney and if he/she wins the case, then, they get a percentage of what should rightfully be for the disabled person.
I was refused three times, even though it was next to impossible just to ride in any vehicle.
So, I appealed again, and went in front of a Judge. There, it only took about five minutes, and I was granted my Social Security Disability.
I also have friends, who were genuinely disabled. One person was turned down, and was going to give up.
I told them not to give up, that it is one of the ways they discourage people from trying anymore.
I would really like to hear from you all who have either gotten their SSI, or SSD, or gave up after being denied.
It is the way the system works, and lets face it, what are you going to do without it, if you really are unable to work, and provide for yourself, and/or your family?
