How are you spending your rebate check?

Millions of Americans have already received their economic stimulus checks from the federal government, but are they pumping that money back into our flagging economy?

Here's what the Associated Press has to say:

Based on economists' preliminary assessments, and echoed by the AP sample group of more than two dozen people, Americans are not hesitating to spend the money — but more for essentials than was anticipated. It's easy to understand why: Gas prices are up more than 30% since the rebate check amounts were first announced and food prices are projected to increase 5% or more in 2008.

Joseph LaVorgna, chief U.S. economist at Deutsche Bank, thinks at least half the rebate money may go toward energy costs alone.

"It's not going to give you the bang for the buck as originally envisioned," he said. "The odds of it having a longer-lasting impact on the economy are less. ... People were not planning to use so much of it on energy and food."

How will you spend your rebate?  Will you be spending your check on an indulgence or will you be using it to pay off some bills and fill up the tank?

Gee whiz.. I have a whole $300 coming.  One of my favorite wines is 2005 La Mission Haut Brion. A half bottle is only $449.   Hey Boomer, got any spare change you ain't using?

Rebate check!   I'm not getting a rebate check.  :-(
But if I got one I'd buy gas with it.

It was used to pay the balance due on the oil bill.
Can hardly wait for the upcoming heating season =)
