What are you afraid of?

We're all growing older in an uncertain world. Recently, my job tanked, leaving me struggling to reinvent myself at 50, trying to survive with 1/3 less income (good thing my hub makes lots more than I did). I have to find a new way to support my family right now, but my biggest fear is whether we'll have enough to retire on when the time comes. We've already lost a lot, but it's in stocks, so if the stock market recovers - and I think it will - we'll get it back. But what about social security?

what's your future fear?

My future fear, you Whippersnapper, is waking up one morning unable to move one side of my body or form a coherent sentence, and with one side of my mouth pulled down to my jaw.  I also fear being forced into retirement, which I consider immoral to the nth degree.  I am 75 years old, work seven days a week, love my work and consider it a privilege.  Even if I had a hubby to put  bread on my table as SOME OTHERS DO, I would still consider it my obligation to the society and myself to keep on working.  I also fear having my 2002 facelift wear off and not having the $$$ for another one.  I also fear being unable to be productive, play sports, care for my precious animals, and homelessness.

Want to trade fears?  I'll take yours any day.

I am fearful that when I am starting to enjoy life that is when it will get to the point I can no longer enjoy life!

me too, and why don't they quote the post you're replying to?

I figure that as soon as I finally have enough money to go and do things...I won't be able to for health reasons.
