What's the best concert you ever saw?

I'm still high on my experience at the Bruce Springsteen concert in Orlando the other night.  In a word, the Boss ROCKED.

I must admit that I'm not a huge Bruce fan, but when my husband and I heard he was coming to town, as music lovers, we knew we couldn't miss it.  And boy, we were rewarded.  Bruce and the E Street Band put on a nonstop, hard-rocking 2 hour and 40 minute show.  From song to song, there was never a break.  They just kept on jamming and I'm not sure if I've ever seen a rock star connect with his fans the way the Boss did.  He was plucking song requests out of the audience and at one point, I half expected him to pull the next Courtney Cox up on stage.

Plus, there was another major highlight -- a surprise appearance from Growing Bolder's favorite rock icon Roger McGuinn (if you haven't seen our exclusive Roger Rocks on Rails concert, click here.  It's a must for all music fans).

So, the Bruce concert got my husband and I comparing concert notes.  For me, I will always keep my two Paul McCartney shows at the top of my list, but I think Bruce has cracked the top 5.

So, what's your favorite concert?

    There were 2

Elvis in Providence R.I. and as good was a rocking roll revieval concert in Saratoga Springs with Little Richard, Pointer Sisters, Temptations, Freddie Cannon, Drifters, Coasters,Fats Domino and Chubby Checker. Freddie Cannon started it with "Transister Sister, and Palisaedes Park" and it only got better. By the time he was thru, everyone in the shed was standing on the seats just dancing and having a great time. It was a night, some 40 years ago that I remember with a smile.

The best concert I have ever seen was just recently. My friend and I drove 3 1/2 hours north to Omaha NE to see Elton John and Billy Joel. It was amazing! They started the concert with dualing pianos for about 20 minutes then Billy Joel exited and Elton played for a hour. He left and Billy came back and played for a hour then they both came back and played for another 40 minutes. The music was top rated and I felt they played their hearts out.

Deb, I also saw Elton and Billy together several years ago, and I agree, those two men left it all on the stage! What great performances.  And it's a real testament to an artist and his or her music where you find yourself standing and singing along THE ENTIRE SHOW!

Thanks for reminding me of that pleasant memory!

The Righteous Brothers in the 1990's in Orinda, Ca.  Bobby Hatfield in a turquoise suit  (hubba-hubba!)  tore the house down with his song, "Unchained Melody!"  May he RIP ....

Neil Young way back in the '70's after he split from Crosby, Stills & Nash.  A huge group of us attended, 20 in all. It was so much fun.

Pink Floyd, finally, after decades of having admired their perspective, about 16 years ago at Georgia Tech's open stadium, Atlanta, on a night of low clouds, enhancing their lasers shot to the sky.  A hydraulic contraption that appeared to be stainless steel rose, opening like a flower, a rotated while lasers emanated from the petals.  Comfortably Numb, The Wall, Money, and new ones.  This was their Division Bell tour.  Local music reviewers invited all us "geriatrics", as if Pink Floyd were a thing of the past, while tears dripped off my jaws.

I understand Jackie saying Bruce is the best! I've seen him dozens of times and it's never enough.
BUT...The #1 show of all time for me was opening night of Paul McCartney's
"Driving USA Tour". When he came onstage and we heard
"YOU SAY YES, I SAY NO,
YOU SAY STOP AND I SAY GO GO GO, YOU SAY GOODBYE AND I SAY HELLO!"

There wasn't a dry eye in the arena for the rest of the night.
What a thrill to see Paul McCartney singing the Beatles songs live.

I was at Woodstock and that beat Woodstock!

I just joined today, so HI everyone, it's nice to be here.

    Peace On... Ladybear
