Ah, Ladybear, you just brought tears to my own eyes because I saw that same tour and you're right, him just coming out on stage and opening with that. Ahhhh, my definition of heaven. That's one of the things I love best about Paul's concerts: he never shies away from the old stuff. He'll toss a few new songs in here and there, but for the most part, he's proving he'll never be too old to be the Lad from Liverpool!
I saw Madonna a few years ago and she sang only TWO classic songs -- a retooled version of La Isla Bonita and Holiday. That's it! No Like a Prayer, no Papa Don't Preach, no Get Into the Groove. Nothing! I know artists must get sick of singing their biggest hits after all these years, but throw us a bone when we're shelling out so much!
I'm seeing U2 for my very first time tomorrow night and I've heard they're being very generous with playing their classics. Can't wait!
Ah yes, Black Crowes are great in concert. I've seen them several times, including at House of Blues and at festivals. I think I like seeing them in a club setting better. Their music just seems to fit an intimate setting better than a bit crowded festival in a field.
