About Me

An aussie baby boomer diva!

My life on the internet began as a result of losing my mother to ovarian cancer-Had my first book of poems published as a tribute to her memory, followed this up by becoming an awareness co-ordinator with OvCa Australia~National Ovarian Cancer Network. Set about fundraising/events/speeches. Decided after 5 years to go it alone. Used my collection of self-published books to assist with my awareness message, worlwide. My love of writing opened many new doors, the next being Writing Edge[magazine] where today, I have gone from Senior staff writer to Deputy-editor. During my personal growth, I met Beverly Mahone and was soon inducted into the Baby Boomer Diva web of fame! A HUGE honour and another vehicle for meeting people and making new friedships!

My Latest Blog

Go ahead, make my bed I can tolerate most household chores, with the exception of one or two tasks, but am I really alone?? When my children were mere tiny-tots, the daily routine never bothered me nor interfered with my lifestyle. I definitely...

Hi Debstar, i am just checking out all the Aussies in the group and your name came up. There are not many Australians on Growing Bolder but it is nice to run into them from time to time. My name is Peter and i live in Gordon Park a suburb on Brisbane's north side.

    My Aussie Sister,

I'm glad you made it over here.  Between us, we're going to show everyone "we're women on the move and making a difference!"

More About Me

Hometown

Sydney

Family

After losing mum, my hubby, two sons, father and collie dog, all packed our bags and moved further out west of Sydney. There have been many ups and twice as many downs, but we keep bouncing back! Amazing what love can do!

Education

Hmmm...well, got off to a shaky start due to illness, causing me to graduate at the tender age of 14 years and 9 months. Who would have thought that thirty years later, i would be enrolled in college studying Community Services??!! This involved many modules/subjects, all an enormous challenge but I loved every moment! My assignments allowed me to prove you are never too old to gain a distinction...high ones at that! Looking forward to completing another course!

Goals

Apart from raising ongoing awareness to ovarian cancer, I plan to create the largest music network that is known to man, giving every artist/musician the opportunity they rightfully deserve.

I'd also like to see myself on an airplane.....doesn't matter what the destination, but would be a bonus plus if i was flying to America!

People I'd like to meet

ALL my diva sisters, David Bowie,Gene Wilder,Woody Allen, Jerry Seinfeld [and the cast from his show] crikey, the list is way too long.......

My Favorites

Interests

Outdoors: hiking, movies, concerts and footy games...In summer, give me the beach and a bucket for my shells!

Books

That I've wriiten or read???

Let's see, well "Heart of the Continent", "To the is-land" "Angel at my table" "90 minutes in heaven" "Captive Fear" "Mavis and the painted ladies" So many books not enough space...

Foods

LOVE italian, chinese, thai and the typical aussie bbq...a nice baked dinner with lots of roasted potatoes and pumpkin!

Music

OOOHH...ALL music appeals to my senses, EXCEPT for some rap....

Movies

Like books, this hasn't enough space....love all non-fictions movies[as i do books] a great comedy, [one I could watch more than once knowing I'll still get a laugh] fantasy such as Harry Potter & Never ending Story, Romantic epics such as Gone with the wind, LOVE Vivien Leigh...Not a fan of Action films, not unless you toss in a creature from another planet or one that has mutated??? LOVE horrors, thrillers/supsense...if a film can keep me on the egde of my seat, its a winner!

Television

Dont have a great deal of time these days, but when i do, I enjoy anything based on fact...be it criminal, medical or a doco on the world and its creatures...so fed up with the amount of cop-cat cloned cops/robber shows, Medium & House ok, a good re-run comedy-sitcom such as Seinfeld,Everybody loves raymond(Ray is another I'd like to meet) Mash, Will & Grace, Friends...don't mind a bit of Danny Crane? Havent had time to catch onto the latest shows airing...Kelsey Grammer's show looks alright.

Passions/Hobbies

writing-poetry/stories, webdesign and interviews with some really cool celebrities!

My passion always about raising awareness to ovarian cancer!

Heroes

I admire many people...so many are those un-sung heroes who survive amazing battles and inspire others in the process...Princess Diana will always be a star in my books as she stood her ground and defied ALL odds! Michael J Fox, Steve Irwin, the many children in the world, whether win or lose, still fight to survive!
