Im sorry I was not griping, but in New Zealand unfortunally we dont recive anything other than using the web site & even the $39 is $56NZ, not that we mind paying, most product is expencive & P&P is very expensive. Also many ladies still dont use a computer those that do keep them in touch. What I was saying is that many were Red Hatters & having FUN due to the poem  long before the RHS & should be able to continue doing so as long as they dont call them selved Red Hat Socity members!

I agree with that Helen.  But that's not the feeling I get from some others.  If we want to call ourselves Red Hatters and be part of the orgnaizaiton then we need to do it the right way.

There is no objection to anyone enjoying each other's company, wearing what ever clothes and hats one wants  as long as they aren't giving the  impression they belong to the RHS

The only comment I have is: If it's accountability they want from us, then they need to show accountability to Jenny Joseph and/or her family and own up to the fact that they  used her poem with NO form of compensation to Jenny. After raking in bookoo bucks,( because of Jenny's idea,) and I believe the family had something to do with it, they no longer use the poem. I wonder if out of the goodness of their hearts or accountability, they might feel better if they offered Jenny some monetary token of appreciation, Oh,I don't think so, it may cut into their fun and folly.
What's good for the goose, is good for the gander.

Although not looking for an argument or bellicosity, Queen of E, I'm wondering whether or not you know for a fact that they did not reach any settlement agreement with Jenny Joseph.

No I don't know what all took place. I am in the dark about what and when that took place.

Just have your own group, continue to have fun, and don't bother with paying the big Red Hat in the sky.

    Poolala,
You do seem to have a lot of insight on the RHS, why not set me straight on how GOOD they were to Jenny. As I understand it, Sue Ellen and Jenny's family had some kind of falling out about the whole poem thing. Why don't they use her poem any more?????? When I called the RHS, they wouldn't tell me. I'm sure with your connections, you know, or could find out.
I really don't care, they have shown their true colors, and I am only responsible for myself and my actions and they are responsible for theirs.
In my hat group, NO ONE is turned away if they can not pay our $1.00 dues. I never know who has paid and who hasn't. When we were red hatters, I made sure the ladies with low in come had the color clothing to wear. I donated items to them and if some came to an event, and did not wear the colors, because they couldn't afford to buy them, I welcomed them with open arms.
It's not about the money, the colors or any of that, it's about friendship and support for one another.
Ladies that have money, just don't have any idea, what it is like to make the decision to buy gas or pay dues or what ever.
I have seen your other posts on LOTH and I know we come from totally different worlds and will probably never see eye to eye on the RHS, and that is alright with me.You are intitled to your opinion, as I am mine.
God Bless, and I apologize if I have offended you in any way.

Gingersnap, concerning your reply of 2/27/10:

Maybe I'm reading your statement wrong, but when my "officially registered" chapter tried to post an upcoming event on RHS website, we received an email stating that "although my chapter is a registered chapter of the Red Hat Society, the contact persons are not registered members and this event can not be posted on the RHS event calendar with their names.  You can resubmit your event with a registered member as the contact person."   Needless to say, we opted out of that option.
