What is your chapter doing this month?

Hi gals

What is your chapter doing this month?

Mine will meet July 21st for a game of Bocce ball followed by a potluck lunch/garden party at the home of a member.
Her gardens are beautiful (she rents it out to people for weddings) and she has a life-sized red hat lady that she brings out all dolled up in full regalia to join us! Always fun!

Hope you will share your plans with us !

The Texas Rambers are having a Thrift Shop Hop. We are meeting for breakfast, shop hopping, and then meeting for a late lunch to compare our finds.

We always have a grand time.

I have decided to add a surprise to our Julyevent...

    CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

When at the RHS convention in Palm Springs I bought a lot of "stuff" and I'm going to wrap it all and take a small Christmas Tree to the garden party and put the gifts under the tree.

Names will be called out in order that they RSVP'd to attend... first come first served and they will be able to pick a gift. I just wonder though of another twist... everyone just grabs a gift, opens it and ohhh and ahhhhs and then they are all put out on display on a table and THEN names are called in order of who reserved first and they pick the gift of their choice?
    Any thoughts on this???

    Input would be appreciated!

I am queen of the Concord Grapette Chapter in a small community 25 miles east of Little Rock, Arkansas.  Our chapter has started a "Red Scarf Club" for older animals at a local animal shelter.  A red scarf (bandana) will be place around the neck of each of the "more mature" animals to indicate that there is much love and companionship to be found by adopting one of these animals.  We got this idea from a red hat chapter that was featured in the Friday Broadcast of the RHS.

On July 26, our chapter is meeting with the director of the animal shelter along with the local newspaper to present about 75 red scarves hoping to promote adoption of older animals as well as the Red Hat Society.

Our hope is that other chapters will take hold of this idea and in turn save the lives of many of the "more mature" animals.

    What an excellent idea!!!
I will "borrow" it and promote it here at our Queen's Council meeting and see if we can't do that here too.
    Thank you!!!
I saw the saddest commercial today for the ASPCA and it's heart-breaking to see how some animals have been abused.
Royal hugs and cudos to you!

The Red Hats In The Sunset went to an apple orchard in Oct.  We took the hay ride, bought apples and pies to take home.  Of course we always eat lunch and later on the way home stop and get ice cream.

When heading home we got lost, and had an adventure.  We keep seeing road closed signs, but keep on going for miles, until "the road was closed".  We had to laugh so hard and said "they could have told us".
