My poor gimpy doggie!

My name is Sassy & I have a 13 year old Beagle/Cocker/Golden Ret.mix

He is the joy of our life .My son picked him out of a litter of 10 pups at the age of 5 weeks,as his mom got up shook them off and never went back to them.

He is quite a ham. He blew out his left knee in 2005 chasing a possum in our back yard. We had it repaired to the tune of almost two grand. It is held together with monofiliment.

Well last week he blew the other knee out.

We had a big decision to make.....do we use up what little savings we have  to fix this one or put him down.

Well we may be broke and living on the streets if this economy doesn't change soon but we still have our Bruno.

We had the surgery done last Monday & he came thru with flying colors.

He had his age against him but with the grace of God he is making a full recovery.

I now call him our Bionic Beagle Boy!

It's been rough taking turns sleeping on a air matress on the floor with him ...He wants us close by him.

With all the love and devotion he has given us it's a small pay back.

Just wanted to share this with all that love their dogs

It's actually a blessing to be able to provide for an animal and to receive unconditional love and affection in return from your pet.    They don't care what you wear, what kind of car you drive, or how far you went in school.  I hope your Bionic Beagle Boy heals quickly.  I saw his picture in your Media file.

Whenever my husband was home, our dalmation Oreo was his shadow.  It was comical to watch her follow him from one end of the house to the other and back again.  When the men were at work, Oreo and I were "the girls".  When she was sick, my husband used to camp out on the living room floor with her.  She's been gone almost 18 months, and we still miss her.  We loved her like a child.

Like you, I have a friend who chose to pay for surgery on her old white German shepherd dog.  At the time, the vet didn't think the dog would survive too long even with the surgery; but Princess is alive and well.  It's going on almost 2 years since her surgery.
