Good morning all, My hart is sad today my oldest baby is really getting bad she has hip displacia and can't hardly get up and get around. She was my state police dog and we kept her. I just wish they had the same tretments for her as they do for humans. It tears you apart to see them still wanting to go out an play but unable to. I have to pick her up and take her out to potty and then take her back in. Oh well she would do the same for me!! I truly love this girl she has saved me more than once.

Soooo sad.  I have a friend with a small poodle and a friend with 2 chihuahua's and all of them are having that same kind of problem...Can you say epidemic?  Both of the owners have been giving their dogs glucosimine/condroitin pills and they think they are helping.  This is what many humans are taking for bone problems, so maybe you could check into that....I feel for you....yes, sad....

Rob, I truly understand your pain, as we all do.  I had to do ther same with my sweet bichon Josh when he was overtaken with cancer.

However, on a positive note we too give one poodle the glucosimine for hip displasia and it really helps him.

Gentle hugs and slurps to her.

I have a chinchilla named Trixie...that is her in my profile picture.  She is sure fun to have around and loves to run and play.  When She is not out for playtime, she is in a tall cage with shelves and ramps so she can get exercise there as well.

Wow. If we have pets, of one kind or another, usually pussy cats or doggies, then those special four legged people are a very important part of our lives.  A LOT of the things we do around the house revolve around them, yet, here in this thread in this 'pet' group, the replies are either months or years old.

Strange, isn't it.  A large percentage of us have pets, yet can't seem to talk about them.  Even people in the 'field' as a rescuer or maybe a pet store worker should be able to drop a note/post every few days about "Today I seen/we did/etc" ... but, nope, doesn't happen.  Why?  Because someone HAS to take the time to get it revved up, get it going, devote some time to making it work.  Posting everyday, getting others interested in posting frequently.

It just won't happen on its own.  I've looked at several groups on here and they all seem to be the same... sad but true.  Membership is usually single digit or for sure less than twenty members.  Posts are months or years old, most recent is months or years ago.

Why?  Because there are a bazillion other boards, forums, groups "out there" clamoring for everyone's time.  Yahoo Groups, one I belong to has 1,600+ members, maybe, MAYBE, 20-30 of them are active posters.  That is just the way it is, even on here, the growingbolder website.

Maybe someone will reply to my post, maybe not.  IF someone does reply to my post AND you were to ask them five minutes later; "What was Ken's post about?  What did he say in it?"

You already know the answer, don't you!  The person who had answered my post and you had asked... would stand there with a dumb look on their face and go "Uhhhh".  Yeah, right.  They never even paid attention to what I had posted/said enough to remember it for even FIVE minutes.

THAT is why sometimes I don't post much, what use?  If I post over ten words <- 340 words to there... peoples brains just seem to TURN OFF.

Well, it is about 0200 in the morning, I think I will go eat dinner... with Kel, of course!  I just reached over and rubbed her back and she said "Yes, sounds like a good idea, Papa-san, I'll have some of that Free Range Chicken Broth to drink, the same stuff you cook your rice in.  You know, the broth Costco has in those six quarts to a box for $9.95, that you buy 8 boxes at a time so you don't run out and have to listen to me whine about having to drink water."  Eighty dollars worth of chicken broth at a time???

She only drinks about one quart out of the six in a box or so.

What did I say? Spoiled rotten.  I'm glad she let's me live here with her and let's me sleep on the bed with her.  But, she loves me, so I understand.

Ani and I divorced at the end of 2005... I wonder what is going to happen if I am ever lucky enough to have a woman fall in love with me again?  She will have to pass Kel's inspection and okay for sure.  But, I've been looking for a couple years now, and no one is interested in an old fat guy like me, so I guess I don't have to worry about it.

    Enjoy,

Ken, Kel's slave.  Ask her, she'll tell you that is exactly right!

I have a dachshund that is 8 years old. His name is Scrat Noodle and is such a great dog. He makes me smile daily and I couldn't imagine my life without him in it.
