Silly Dog Habits

Our dogs hate getting bathed.  They all basically force me to drag them into the bathroom.  The funniest part is when they finally escape and try to dry themselves off:

I used to be irritated at them getting the rest of the house sopping wet. I have since given up and learned to laugh at it. Do your animals have funny rituals like that?

Jason,

How cute!!! As you know I do not have any dogs, but I remember what the bathroom looked like after I gave my three kids baths when they were little.  The bathroom floor was usually sopping wet.  And one of my children screamed the entire time I tried to wash her hair.

Give the dogs a doggie treat for me.

Continue taking great care of all of my "Granddogs".

That video is great Jason and it reminds me a lot of my house!  We have two dogs and one of them (Homer) actually ENJOYS the bath.  As soon as he hears me putting water in the tub, all I have to do is yell, "Homer!" and he comes running and jumps in the tub.  But after their bath, the same ritual of searching the house for any surface to dry themselves on also occurs!

Here's one of Lucy's sillier habits.  She's got bad hips.  She's had them since birth.  So to make up for the fact that Mom and Dad can't afford hip surgery yet, she's found other ways to sit.  Here she is while I"m hard at work on GB.com sitting on the couch with me.  Is she a human or a dog?  She sits everywhere like this -- floor, couch, chair. You name it! Personally, I think she's also taunting Homer -- our good dog who is obediently laying at my feet!

WOW!!!

I wish the children in my preschool class would sit as nicely as your dog.

They could also take lessons form your dog resting peacefully on the floor.  Rest time is anything but restful in my class.

Maybe I shoud take dog training classes.

Hattie does something similar.  She runs as fast as she can while barking and shaking. She jumps up and pivots in the air and keeps running figure 8s.  We call it the puppy crazies.  E.G. thinks it is hilarious when she does it.  I try to give baths right before I have to give the bathroom a good cleaning.

She also knows when I bake dog biscuits, she can tell them apart from anything else (it must be that combination of bacon fat and peanut butter!) and waits at the oven door until they come out and she has taste tested them.  I have to push her out of the way to open the door to get them out!

Kewl video on "bath time" and what follows.  Yes, my two--Maxi and Rudy, do the same thing after they get bathed.  They run around like wild and crazy hellions; rolling on the floor, the couch, loveseat and on afghans to dry off.  Afterward, though, they're pretty happy guys and then "Mom" gets to clean the bath tub, bathroom and whatever else needs to be cleaned.  That's ok, though, because they're definitely worth having in my life.  What's a little water and "Rudy fir" ?  (Maxi  (the Schnauzer) doesn't shed, so I don't really have to deal with his fir).  It's ok...I just go with the flow and know that it's part of having animals (dogs) in my world/home.

Thanks for sharing your special "furbabies" bathtimes and afterwards...
