About Me

I grew up in Kentucky in a small town, population of 350 souls (and that's a generous estimate!).  Went to college on a scholarship.  Dropped out after only one year and moved to New York City to pursue Broadway.  It was a no-go.  Boo-Hoo!  I worked in nightclub shows for several years and sang with house bands for the last two years of my "career."  Worked around NYC for a brokerage house, an advertising firm, an airline and an international bank.  Moved to Virginia and went back to college to study computer science.  Took a job with the Dept. of Defense (Navy) and was with various commands for 26 years.  Married a man with a son from a former marriage but was divorced after 14 years.  Let freedom ring!  Retired from my job as a Computer Specialist (a misnomer), sold my home in VA and moved back to KY where it all began, for Act III.  I am surrounded by a large, loving, extended family.

    Terry,

You are one of my favorite bloggers, although 'poet' is a much better description of you. I always look forward to reading your works. You seem to take the thoughts and feelings of so many people and put them into verse that makes one stop and say 'that's exactly how I feel'.  That is a talent in itself.

I agree with Vannie when she says you've led a very interesting life.  I'm sure that's what you draw upon to write your narratives.  So I foresee a great many more wonderful pieces coming our way and I'll be reading every one of them.

You and I also have a few things in common, the most important one I think being our work in the health care facilities.  I think that of all the shows I do, they're the most rewarding of all.  God bless you for bringing a song and a smile into the lives of those who need it most.

    Ginger!

    Hi Terry,

You have led a wonderfully interesting life, I suspect that you still do. More power to you.

    Hi Again Terry...
I really like the "Here kitty, kitty" picture you are currently
using as your profile avatar.  It's a very nice photo of you.

Do you like green?  LOL ... It's the only shade I could find on
Photobucket.  It's supposed to be for upcoming St. Patrick's Day
    =)

    Hi Terry...
Congratulations on being chosen to appear in Growing Bolder's "Buzz".  I imagine it put a big smile on your face when you saw yourself looking back at you from the GB home page =)

I've only read 2 of your blogs so far.  The first was REMEMBRANCES OF CHRIS, and the second was REGRETS.  It's been so hectic around my place.  When things quiet down, I'll be sure to enjoy the rest of your blogs.

    Thank you for sharing!

    Sincerely,
    Debbie

More About Me

Hometown

Florence, KY

Family

I am one of six children in a blended family. Only my brother and I are still living. I have many nieces, nephews, greats and cousins in the area where I live.  They are supremely important to me.

Education

I attended Transylvania University (KY)(didn't become a vampire!), the University of Kentucky, Old Dominion University (VA) and took some work-related hours at Tidewater Community College (VA).

Goals

My goals are quite simple. I want to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible.  I'd like to find some romance along the way, but if that doesn't happen, that's okay, too.  So long as I have my books, my music, my friends and my inquiring mind, I'm good.

People I'd like to meet

If you're asking about famous people I'd like to meet....well, I've met a lot of "stars" and wasn't too impressed with them as people....maybe it would be interesting to meet some of the great minds of the past.  As for meeting people on this site....I'd like to meet anyone who would like to know me better.

My Favorites

Interests

I'm interested in so many things. Not fond of politics but keep up with world events as best I can. My family is important to me and being involved in their lives takes up much of my time.

Books

I read mostly biographies/autobiographies or true-to-life tales.  I do love John Grisham's fiction, though.

Foods

There isn't enough space to list my favorite foods....check the bod.

Music

Anything except rap and punk rock....can't understand much of what is said.  Some hard-driving standard rock is hard on the ears, too.  Other than that, everything from Bach to Bjork is great.

Movies

All the old classics...especially old musicals.

Television

Two and a Half Men, NCIS, As Time Goes By, House, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy

Passions/Hobbies

I play piano and sing at local retirement homes and volunteer at a hospital when needed.  Do some not-so-great needlework for the local hospice fundraisers.

Heroes

My beloved brother, who is my hero.  And.... Ghandi, FDR, JFK, Truman, MLK.... and a certain luscious man I had the privilege to love for a moment in time.  "No Regrets," sings Phoebe Snow.  I agree.
