I'm a professional registered Parliamentarian. I teach Parliamentary law and serve as an advisor to national conventions. I volunteer once a week at the Orlando Police Department. I love to travel and enjoy going alone. That way I can go where I want, when I want.
I've always stayed busy but I've gotten much busier since Growing Bolder did the story on me. It's all a little overwhelming. I've been on national radio shows, in national magazines and will soon be on the network news. Someone says Jay Leno might want me to drive all the way to Los Angeles and drive Chariot into the studio. I'd drive to Los Angeles but once I got there, I'd want them to put Chariot on a flatbed truck. No way do I want to drive in that traffic!

Posted 2:57pm March 4th, 2010Rachel I was just e-mailed your story from a friend.
I truly love your attitude and love for our country. I am a combat disabled vet and your story and proud love of this country and our flag brought tears to my eyes. May you and "Chariot"'s story, influence those who live here in this great Country. What you teach of taking care of something only proves that if we follow those steps, Success will follow. May God Bless you!!!!

Posted 6:52pm July 6th, 2009Well I think Rachel is wonderful. She seems like so much fun and knows her car so well. Its a practical example of all the new green messages--take care of something, value it, repair it, keep it clean and serviced. And for women take a car repair class or ask someone like Rachel to help you. This kind of consumer would have killed the American car industry faster but then maybe something more human, decent and green could have taken its place instead of unsafe at any speed, planned obsolecense and SUVs that are no safer than minivans just need more gas to be cool. Rachel is cool. And her interviewers should skip the patronizing tones of what a wacky oldster...not at all.

Posted 6:30pm July 1st, 2009I'm only 84 and my 2000 Dodge Intrepid V6 1.9 ltr only has 128.000 miles on.it. Like Rachel, I wouldn't trade it even-up for a new anything. It had its original breaks until this spring and it's only about half-way thru its third set of tires. Major repairs: none. Breakdowns: none. Mufflers: one. Gas mileage: 29 mpg on regular for first 100,000 miles. The came ethanol and we dropped down to 26 mpg (combined hwy - cty) where it stays. Engine has never used any oil and I've added apint of anti-freeze. Original battery lasted 5 1/2 years including four in the brutal (to batteries) Florida climate.
I bet everyone wishes they could tell a story like Rachel's or mine. But the Big Three are smart: they quit making Comets and Intrepids - they last too long!!!
Rachel, go babe!! I'll try to catch up but I just don't think I can drive 500,000 miles in six years; I got grass to cut.

Posted 8:41pm June 30th, 2009Nice job Rachael!
You've defined "pride of ownership" by your fine example. There is so much waste & carelessness today of the the things that we own. Since 1968, my now 97 year old Grandmother only had 3 cars. In March of 2005, she did what I know you will do: she turned in her drivers licsense on her own accord. She said it was the hardest thing that she ever had to do. (Incidentally, she out lived 2 husbands.) She had more common sense than the Ohio DMV. Don't these DMV's know that some discrimination is not only good, but necessary as well for the common good? Anyway, I and all of my children got a kick out of your wonderful story. ~ Thank You for sharing it with the world. Happy Motoring ~ mgh, Rochester, NY

Posted 6:13pm June 28th, 2009Rachel,
God Bless you in all your travels. You are such an inspiration. I'm only 51 and already tired of people telling me I'm too old to do things that I love. The human body just doesn't break down as fast as some think it does! At least not if you take care of it. I still do the same things I did at 25 with only one difference that shows...I do them all much better now! That includes water skiing, baseball, and my one true love... GOLF! I want to be able to shoot my age by the time I'm 65. (I've only shot that score 4 times in my life) If I can stay as young as you I think I might just make that deadline! I only hope that I can be as young at 65 as you are at 90. The next time one of these younguns tells me I'm too old for something, I'm taking them straight to your page!!! I'll let you give them a little education in what growing older should be like. Be safe in your travels and I'll check in to see where you've been. You are my inspiration!
Your not so secret admirer,
"Smokey" Moss

Posted 9:29am June 27th, 2009Great story! my own mother is 90+ and still drives quite well I should add. About your car: same engine? never rebuilt? transmission? Is rust an issue? How many brake jobs? Being a guy I'd love to know more about that technical stuff.....keep on going Rachel!
