Motorcycle Back Road Touring

Let's hope all who love to ride the back roads share their travel memories!

We have had such a great time experiencing all the sights, and yes the smells, of the back roads, met many great people and have seen such beautiful scenery!

Here's to "the road less traveled".

I feel a little like a fraud taking part in this discussion, considering that I don't own a motorcycle ... and have never actually ridden one! (Sorry!)

But I have always thought it would be really fun to rent a bike and ride up and down the Florida coast. I live outside of Orlando, so I could do it at any time. If I were brave enough, I'd even consider taking on Bike Week or Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach!

I love driving with the windows down and feeling the wind in my hair, and I know it would be even more fun on a motorcycle.

Katy it's a whole different world on a bike...day or night. You see so much more! The clouds and the stars just pop out and look so much clearer and brighter. However getting caught in the rain is another story!!!!

    Hey!

I say good for you!  You've already been given some good advise by others, so I'd say take it.  Going a bit further down the road, I'd like to say IF you find you have a true love for bikes...don't just sit around waiting to be asked to take a ride.  Don't take this wrong guys, you're great, but you may be busy and life is too short to be put on hold...so Katy, don't be afraid to take a riders safety course and get your own!  That way too, you'll get a whole different feeling of freedom than riding behind someone!  Stay Safe Out There...

    Nothing like motorcycle touring.
I started a blog that highlights my trip across country starting from Melbourne, Florida west to San Diego, north to Seattle, east to South Carolina, and south back home.
It is called Cross Country Motorcycle Trip: Running Down a Dream.
It can be found in the Travel - Adventure Blogs.

I'll be adding to it every few days or so highlighting my experiences.

Not sure who you were aiming your statement at, Looks to be my better-half. So I thought I'd charm in with a bit of back ground. I have been affiliated with the Largest motorcycle club in the world for 30 years. Been to more meetings, rides, midnight runs, then I care to recount. Done more rides in rain and storms then most weekend keep the chrome shinning riders have ever declined to ride in. So I hope my Better-half's statement didn't mislead anyone in her knowledge of riding.

To me riding is all about having fun, enjoying something that not everyone is into. To meet other like minded people who enjoy touring and partying. If someone can only ride on the weekends or when the sun is shinning bright, so be it. The one thing we all share in common is.....We all know now why a dog loves to ride with his head out the window and the wind slapping him in the face. No other feeling like it that I have found......Enjoy your rides, Stay Safe and share your stories...

    Best Regards

Ps: If by any chance I read your statement out of context or took it wrong, please forgive. I am so used to people degrading this sport and life style that I am fast to protect it. Many people I have dealt with over the years look at us leather wearing, blue-jean riding bikers as lowlifes, and defend it to the hilt.

Thanks for you post and info. Could not have said it better myself. I so enjoy seeing newbies getting hooked into this life style. I think everyone should at least take a ride once in there life, Just to feel the air upon there face.

Have a great weekend, Be Safe.

Ednc70 why do you want to even take this to that level?????

Oh, and by the way, I don't have to check out those web sites as I have my better half and a son who have been there and done that. Does your post imply they don't enjoy putting the back roads enjoying what the Great Spirit has given us? Does your post imply that because I like to just putt along the back roads I don't know what "real" motorcyclists do or what a "ride" is?

Perhaps I really don't know what your post was trying to convey and I might have taken it the wrong way, if so please let me know what you meant.

To those who love to ride or are thinking of riding, the world on a bike is like no other. Enjoy what you see and feel for it is far more enjoyable than any cage (car) could be.
