For many, many years our country with various Presidents, has tried to pass a healthcare
bill for Americans. President Obama has finally succeeded in making healthcare a realty.
I can't complain about something that has yet to go into effect yet.You have to understand that there has to be a starting point with subsequent corrections along the way. No government program has ever nor will it ever not require corrections after
implimentation.I say let it go into effect and make the neccessary changes along the way, just as it was done when Social Security was first inacted.

Thanks harfi!
Actually some of the HCR has been implemented already. I believe the pre-existing condition part & the "children can stay on parents til 20-something.

Maybe it has already been discussed here and I know it is very long and probably hard to understand but I am getting tired of reading all of these wild things coming over the net that tells me what it says. Where can I read it? Surely it is online somewhere. The health bill we are all talking about. How can we talk intelligently when we haven't even read it?

If someome were to drop a copy of the healthcare legislation in your lap and if you had
the time and patience to read it, you would not be able to fully understand it due to it's
complexiety.Unfortunately, the government always drafts new legislation in government
terminology. You have to be an attorney to understand it.

Exactly! However you can "google" Health care reform & get a few "book reports", cliffnotes versions to help sort it out. It is important however to check out the "spin" as in consider the source.

Well said James Soil - a very sensible post indeed! I cannot understand why the Republicans cannot understand this simple concept, and, even more to the point, the Democrats should drive home this point of view ino the minds of Republicans over and over again. Repeal - No!

And social security is broke just like all government programs and Obamacare has already affected my family and it is a disaster.

Obamacare has affected my family already, too. My 20 year old son caught pneumonia, and I'm happy to say that he lived because we were able to take him to the doctor a number of times and afford the very expensive medications - because he was back on our insurance at the time. Without Obamacare, we could never have afforded the expense of a serious illness.
marygalexa, the bill is online. I have posted it a number of times and encouraged everyone to read it, but it seems few took me up on it. You can find it here: http://docs.house.gov/rules/health/111_ahcaa.pdf
I warn you, it is a big document to download. It crashed my computer once and would only download after I closed everything else. But it is written in fairly clear English and I was easily able to understand it. Terms are defined in the beginning, and it is well-indexed.
It would be a wonderful thing if people would take the time to understand what is really in the bill as opposed to what they hear on television. The rumors and scare-mongering are ridiculous. Don't buy into the propaganda.

I believe it is Sherisaid who directed me to the President Obama's Healthcare Bill. Thank you. I downloaded all 1990 pages in a few seconds as I have a high capacity (1TB) hard-drive as well as memory to match. The Bill needs a lot of time to read, and I intend to read it in its entirety, and will attempt to post extracts in these columns with any comments.
