    Question

I have a friend who says "God is great, beer is good and people are stupid"

I'd like to fix the selfish behavior of the modern American culture.

I don't know if any one is truly stupid. It is more likely they are thoughtless
and selfish or .. So many people are so self consumed lately everyone else is just in their way whether it is on the road, at work or in the store..

    Question

Personal accountability.  If people would be accountable for their own actions we wouldn't be in this mess.  What happened to working for a living and not depending on the "government" to take care of you.  What happened to owning up to your mistakes?  What happened to telling the truth?  What happened to Patriotism, thankfully that is beginning to surface again.  How about the Constitution? Why is Washington throwing it out of the window?  If the legislator would be accountable to their voters and tell them the truth, think of where we would be!  The whole me first thing, and how much can I grab that I didn't earn gripes my soul.  Lets take back the country and VOTE these liars, cheats, comminists and theives out of every office......

    Question

    Dear Betty Boop,

    You have MY vote !

Since practically all major governments preach and teach that the buck does NOT stop here or anywhere else for that matter, how can we expect  ordinary citizens to accept responsibility for THEIR actions ?

Worse, how are we to show our young people what accountability means ?

Rotten at the top is surely a guarantee of rot at the bottom,.

    Question

When a nation is taken over......by most any means....the very first thing they

do is subdue the media! In this case they have made it so one can not get anything

What follows the party line......THEY will be rid of those who do not soon enough....

WATCH and PRAY for our country....cause I think we are gonna need all those

who Watch and Pray....We will probably be branded as radicals....And Radicals

do not last long in that type of society.....do you think those will be some of the things

they will be looking at the first time some of us older folks need heart surgery....

Before they sign the papers....think deeply. I am not a conspiracy theorist...

But since one of our former presidents proclaimed the health care issue a

RACIAL problem....maybe the thing I would change is the use of that word...

OH and Minority......I think though I am not sure....We WASPS....and

BOOMERS are the Minority today....or soon will be...I hope the Hispanics

and other "minorities" are kind to us......

    Question

If I could fix one thing, I think it would be the justice system. Murderers are way better off than minor offenders, and prosecution is ridiculously aggressive. It's criminalizing our youth, making it impossible to find jobs, and leaving them no choice but a life of crime. It's just all gotten out of hand.

About illegal immigration, the sister of a close friend was involved with an illegal immigrant from Mexico. He followed the crops, picking fruit and vegetables in season. He lived in a shack stuffed with others like him, did backbreaking work for pennies, and had no medical care. I don't know how she came to be involved with him...I believe she was a low-rent prostitute.

My point is that this man, Hector, who I came to know, worked a job under conditions no American in his right mind would accept. Without these people, the cost of fruit and delicate vegetables that cannot be picked by machine would skyrocket to prices we couldn't possibly afford.

Be careful what you wish for. For the record, the estimated percentage of illegal aliens in this country is 4%...and it costs far more to keep 3% of our population in jail at all times, a far, far bigger percentage than any other civilized country.

    Question

We have a myriad of serious problems that need fixing. Illegal immigration is a big one. Over-regulation is also a problem.

But, the key to fixing many of these problems is empowering the voter. We need election and lobbying reform. Why are big corporations allowed to spend millions of dollars to lobby for Congress to pass special laws? No corporation is a voter. Nor are any Unions. We need to stop the lobbying of government by "NON-VOTERS." The Government is to represent the voters.

If thousands of individuals want to get together and hire a lobbyist, require that they all write individual checks to the lobbyist. No more AARP where the head honchos of AARP decide how to use the members dues to lobby. No more unions to take union dues and lobby without the expressed support of those dues payers. Make the union member write an individual check for the lobbying effort.

If GE Board of Directors decides to lobby for a cause, require them to collect individual checks from shareholders for the specified lobby effort.

If Perdue Chicken wants to give amnesty to illegals, make the Perdue family and other owners write personal checks for the lobbying efforts.

Make all lobbyists disclose all of their funding sources, just like the election regulations require of candidates for office.

Only when we put Washington D.C. back in the hands of the voters, will anything change.

    Question

I don't have the solution to the problem, but my wish is to end hunger and homelessness in our own country where more people than we know slip through the cracks.

    Question

Immigration reform.  I would go back to the rules prior to the Immigration Reform Act of 1965.  The US used to require immigrants to have a sponsor; be in good health; have job within 60 days. People emigrating from countries hostile to the US were either denied entry or scrutinized very closely. And significantly, prior to 1965, US citizens were denied from having dual citizenship; you were either an Amirican or not. BTW the changes brought by the '65 bill were the brainchild of none other than Ted Kennedy, who sponsored the bill.

Presidents Eisenhower, Truman and Coolidge all rounded up millions of illegal aliens during hard economic times in America and deported them, most were sent back to Mexico and Central America.  We certainly could use some of that medicine now.  Chuck O
