GB Birthday Challenge

I am entering the GB birthday challenge by advising what I have done on my birthday as my commitment to health and wellnes.

On May 20th, (my birthday is actually May 23rd but I cant change the race schedules !), I competed in an Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Haines City, Fl.

The race consists of a 1/14 mile swim, a 56 mile bike, and a 13 mile run for a total of 70.3 miles. I placed 3rd in the (70-74) age group in a time of 8 hours and 5 minutes. At 73 I was the oldest of the 2000 competitors in the race and managed to beat quite a few people younger than me..

It was also very exciting to be in the same race as Lance Armstrong who won the race. At 40 years old he is still amazing and won the race in 3 hours and 45 minutes.

The goal I set 4 years ago was to do this race for every birthday in my 70's and so far have done the first 4 (70,71,72,73,).

This triathlon was # 256 and another goal I have is to get 300. I just hope the body cooperates well and allows me to accomplish both goals.

I truly believe exercise is one of the major factors in maintaining health and wellness.
