About Me

Retired in October 2013 to concentrate on "being younger each year."  Brain cancer survivor (surgery 2008), who is in best physical shape of my life.  Had full/interesting career in public and private sector, primarily in the transportation field.  Common threads:  communications, facilitation, intergovernmental relations, policy development, executive management.
Happily single and enjoy living.  Looking forward to being more politically involved after whole career of having to be non-partisan.  Looking for a special volunteer project to be truly passionate about.

Family

Small family -- both parents were only children, 81-year-old mother still living in the Hill Country...where my one sibling and her husband also live.
One child -- a son who lives with his great wife in Austin too.  Wonderful couple to be around, always up to something.  Both "doctors" -- a psychiatrist and a Ph.D. ecologist/artist.

Education

BA - Journalism, Texas Tech University
MA - Urban Affairs, UT Arlington

Goals

Continued physical fitness and travel, volunteering, reading/writing
Some part-time consulting (only if it is fun and fits my schedule)
Immersing myself in a truly important and impactful volunteer project.  Candidate subjects:  spreading civic knowledge, especially targeting the young with the importance of voting and being engaged; helping people of all ages understand the benefits of and possibilities for becoming and staying physically fit.
