This statement is NOT meant in jest: in light of today's ELEMENTARY school shooting in CT, with 18 CHILDREN and 9 adults dead, (and one entire class unaccounted for) and all of the horrific events that seem to occur on a weekly basis nowadays, I'm actually hoping that the Mayans are right.
This world is not safe for anyone anymore. There is no place that is safe....not your home, church, theaters, malls, high schools, and now an elementary school! Evil is running rampant. Our parents, teachers, sports trainers, clergymen, etc. etc., are supposed to keep our children SAFE, yet they are the very ones perpetrating these horrendous acts upon our precious children. The shooting today is the worst we've ever seen, and yet I'm sure there's some psychopath out there saying "I wonder if I can top that". All they're looking for is notoriety, no matter what the cost. Nothing could possibly be sadder.
And this event will have far reaching repercussions: all the children who attend that school will suffer both mentally and emotionally for the rest of their lives; they are too young to grasp what's happened and be able to process it. Even adults will be hard pressed to wrap their heads around this. Even law enforcement officials, who have seen some of the worst crime scenes that we can't even imagine, I'm sure are overwhelmed at this kind of carnage. No matter how many deaths they see, they never get immune to seeing a child dead....and this kind of massacre will affect them for the rest of their lives, too. Many people are going to need therapy for many years to come.
My heart and prayers go out to every person involved in this tragedy, and for our world in general. If something doesn't drastically change, WE will be the ones to end the world....but it certainly won't be by Rapture!
Make sure you tell EVERYONE who is important to you that you love them, today and everyday....because you just never know. What we do know is that tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. I love all of my family and friends, and I DO tell them regularly.
May the Lord comfort all those grieving the loss of a loved one, and wrap His loving arms around them in this time of intense sorrow.
