We kicked off this week's chat with the two words that are on all of our minds: Swine Flu ...

@StarStrukLynna: I'm thinking it is just a flu...but I have access to a doctor and I have health insurance
@mypricelesslife: I have to fly May 12. yes, i'm worried
@cindyoyo: Not worried at this point. It's the flu! Wash your hands!
@kmacwill: I'm a little worried about swine flu, since I'll be on a plane in a week and cruise ship for 4 days. eek?
@briwal: Overblown...its the flu! Just take the normal precautions you would have taken last December.
@FredFitnessGuy: Not too worried here. What makes it different from other flus?
@drkisane: In Perth Western Australia nurses are at the airport and ppl are being screened!

That led to a sidebar on Vice President Biden's statement that he advised his family to stay out of enclosed areas like airplanes.

@uberbabyboomer: I would say the same thing if I were him and had already lost family members so very tragically; let him be human.
@kwidrick: The Biden thing is RIPE for mockery this weekend on Saturday Night Live :)
@GetResults: Joe can be windy, but he speaks from the heart
@SpectatorDad: since he is known for his inability to be sensitive, the comments were a bigger deal

And, since it all ties back to healthcare, health coverage, and the medical system at large, it seemed everyone had an opinion, and a grade to give out!!

@PopArtDiva: is there such a thing as an F minus?
@briwal: Today's healthcare system gets a D...If you lose your job and have a preexisting condition...God help you...
@jcarlin: Docs aren't the prob. Insurance is. They make it impossible for drs to practice way they'd like. They rob us mercilessly.
@WilmaWoodson: I'd like to torpedo the pharmacutical companies and insur companies. Let the MDs do their job.
@GetResults: @jcarlin insurance is a culprit 2 B sure, but tort reform would help lots. Est. up 2 1/3 of healthcare costs relate 2 CYA compliance.

The room even issued a challenge to one of the country's biggest insurance agencies, inviting State Farm into the discussion!

@jcarlin: fuming at state farm right now for dropping our homeowners when we never made a claim, hurricane dmg and all
@cindyoyo: Had state farm for 25 yrs, no claims. They wouldn't cover our beach house. Wouldn't cover our country house.
@sherisaid: well, state farm is really ridiculous.
@uberbabyboomer: State Farm is infamous for doing that to ppl; someone needs to stop them, but who???
@kwidrick: Is State Farm on Twitter? I'd love to see if they have anyone tracking the brand. This is a great example of a time to step in!
@cindyoyo: Ha! Let's all follow State Farm and give it a piece of our minds!
@kwidrick: We should! Hey, @StateFarmIns, here's a group of people with some tough but fair questions. Willing to take 'em?

So, what does the AgeOp crew think of President Obama's first 100 days in office?

@StarStrukLynna: I know it sounds really shallow, but I LOVE listening to him talk and watching him improvise. Very trustworty, entertaining, likeable
@GetResults: I give Obama 75% for broad (needed reforms and initiatives) and -25% for not going far/fast enough
@gerohelper: Obama's first 100 days have shown measured leadership, somewhat excessive spending, & reaching across the aisle
@SpectatorDad: I respect the fact that hes our Pres. I just disagree w him. Knew he would vear left, just not a 90 degree left turn

After all that heavy conversation, it was time for a break. So we talked prom! Since it's prom season for today's high schoolers, we reminisced about our own experiences:

@StarStrukLynna: I went to proms...not much fun, but pretty shiny dresses! Course that was eons ago..
@JoeTheProducer: Prom. She was in the prom court. I wasn't busy. A friend set us up. We had fun. I think she'd agree. Maybe.
@mypricelesslife: Went to prom & worried all night about falsies popping out top of my dress
@happynutrition: I didn't go to any Proms, high school etc. were not my best years...better years came after, WAY better
@kmacwill: I went to my prom - pictures were taken, but not sure where they are. My date and I had broken up - we went together to get to go.
@sherisaid: I went to my prom. all the seniors wore white. My BF dropped a crankshaft on his leg and could not go, so I went with a friend.
@GetResults: I was lucky - went to military school - uniform always fit better than rented tux - proms were a blast
@gerohelper: I went to my prom (8 years ago). Went with a guy friend. Great school sponsored photographer. Didn't go to post-prom parties. Fun.

So would any of us go back to high school if we could? And what would we do differently?

@StarStrukLynna: No, I would not go back to high school. Period.
@JoeTheProducer: Study.
@WilmaWoodson: not want to go back to HiSch. Today is much more fun.
@OriginalLinDA: ..NO....and ..NO.
@jcarlin: i'd never, never, ever go back to high school as a teen. if i could go back as adult to observe myself and friends, totally would
@Cheyney: no way would i go back to h.s. my definition of hell
@kmacwill: Only go back if I could keep current knowledge. Would worry less about what people thought. Reach out more. Connect.
@SpectatorDad: high school was great, loved it... But I run a school so I relive it everyday
@PatNarciso: High school was great. I'd go back

Finally, we talked about the definitions of friendship, and how those definitions change when it comes to online relationships.

@Timberry: wow, friendship online. Not without the occasional phone call, or at least a long email now and then. Not at 140-character pace.
@PopArtDiva: Friend: Someone who doesn't value you for what you can do for them
@mypricelesslife: Some of my new Facebook friends r people I'd totally enjoy meeting in person
@GetResults: friendship happens over time, with continued connection & shared values - happens where it happens.
@gerohelper: Friendship is a common bond/connection that creates feelings of joy. By that defination, online friendships are possible.
@DocLG: TRUE FRIENDS with people you meet online? Maybe if U meet but U lose the mystery
@kmacwill: Online friendships are possible and very real! Different than IRL friends? Sure, but no less true.
@STorrico: email has made it LOTS easier to keep in touch. And No postage increases...
@debra47: Friendship for me is special connection that transcends time. Still in contact with someone I've known since 5.
@Seniors4Living: I've made some great friends online. It's gotten to where if we don't Tweet a day or so, I miss them!
@mypricelesslife: Doesn't matter where you meet...it's what happens after.
