With all of the prequels, sequels and remakes hitting movie theaters and TV screens, we wanted to know what the group thought. Is it smart to try and improve on the original? What has worked/not worked in the past? Many of us wanted to talk about "Star Trek."

@briwal: I think its going to be big...word on the street is they got it right.
@BillShafer: Why does Hollywood try to lure boomers in with a Star Trek movie but not be the least bit faithful to the franchise?
@mypricelesslife: With so many good screenplays out there, you'd think they'd try something new, but they just want the "sure thing."
@marcmiddleton: I know this is heresy, but I think the original star trek is a very corny. The latest remake actually looks like an improvement.
@brucecarlson: It just won't be the same without the old crew.
@PatNarciso: In respect of Star Trek: JJ did a good job of attempting to create his own history within the story line. (very possible with STrek)
@SheriSaid: I'm hoping for a new Star Trek...and maybe boomers aren't the target audience this time...maybe they're going hip & edgy
@Timberry: I get the remakes, but why remakes of movies that were not that good the first time around? Or bad TV shows?
@jcarlin: I like remakes that seem to be more inspired by the originals, rather than just remakes. Love Affair w/ Beatty/Benning comes to mind

@Jcarlin's comment led us to talk about movies that we'd like to see remade or updated that haven't:

@kwidrick: I would love to see an update of The Wizard of Oz ... but I know for some, that would be heresy.
@marcmiddleton: I want to see someone bring Robert Heinlein's 'Stranger in a Strange Land' to the big screen. I've always wondered why one has.
@BillShafer: A Clockwork Orange starring Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman!!
@brucecarlson: I hope they don't try to remake Casablanca ever.
@Amykr: me I love romantic comedies but most could never be done as well because of the acting Like Marilyn Monroe, kim novack, jimmy stewart
@briwal: Maybe Mary Poppins with Anne Hathaway

Then we moved from movie remakes to remakes of a different sort. Kirstie Alley is once again making headlines for her weight. Are you impressed at her honesty, or sick of the story?

@JoeTheProducer: If you hear anybody's story enough times, you get sick of it.
@Timberry: Two: really sick of the weight thing. Makes the whole country seem trivial. Let's just build photoshop into every mirror and be done
@Andjelija: Def sick of it and it goes to show diets do NOT work pfft
@kwidrick: I do respect her for showing her body - even super skinny celebs don't usually do that. Scary!
@Amykr: I have been fighting my weight all my life I know she is real I know I feel her pain
@marcmiddleton: The hottest thing about Kirstie A. - about all women - is attitude

And since we were already talking about what makes a person attractive, we jumped right into the topic, asking what trait is the most important:

@briwal: Sense of humor is tops for me...
@mypricelesslife: Attitude, hands down!
@PopArtDiva: let's face it: looks draw you in, attitude will sustain or drain a relationship - but attitude is for the long haul
@OriginalLinDA: Awoman looks for a good mind...A man looks for......well he just keeps looking.
@Amykr: I think its all about humor. A person has a sense of humor then they are attractive
@sherisaid: I think it's largely about attitude - confidence, enthusiasm...
@JoeTheProducer: Beauty - in the eye of beholder... or conditioning through popular media.
@BillShafer: I think self confidence is sexy. If you're comfortable with yourself, no matter how you look, you're irresistable.
@Seniors4Living: Ambition, confidence, and personality, all the way!
@gerohelper: positive attitude, a sense of personal loyalty ( not changing for others), sense of humor, and warmth equals attrativeness
@daccarte: I think a "zest for life" is important.
@WilmaWoodson: It's tough to be attracted 2 some1 who does not like themself.
@cindyoyo: When young, physical is more important. When older it's the laughter, honesty, humor, kindness, appreciation, respect
@jeffrey_brandt: My wife is one of the smartest and most talented women i know. Thats very sexy.
@PatNarciso: The internet has pushed the nonphysical side of intimacy, with a primary focus on communication.

It's always fun to end with some reminiscing, so we decided to tackle this topic: What childhood heroes/role models did you have that you'd like to meet in real life? What would you ask him or her?

@PopArtDiva: I've met several of mine including Mickey Mantle. I would like to have met Einstein and I'd like to meet Chuck Yeager
@cindyoyo: I'd like to meet Eleanor Roosevelt.
@jeffrey_brandt: Hmm I always wanted to meet James West and James Kirk.
@katriord: I did get to meet Judy Collins, who fit that category for me, and wrote about it in my In My Life blog.
@OriginalLinDA: Mine would be Mary McMLEOD-Bethune.....I would just like to sit down and talk to her..
@Amykr: One of my childhood idles is Willie Mays. I grew up thinking he was the real superman
@BillShafer: I wish I could have met Charlie Chaplin and Groucho Marx.
@Timberry: Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Oh, which reminds me, JR Salinger.
@CottonCandyKid: I would have like to have met the Lone Ranger and Elvis.
@PopArtDiva: I would have liked to have met Cary Grant and I'd like to meet Kathryn Hepburn and Lauren Bacall - oh, JD Salinger would be good!
@brucecarlson: I always wanted to meet my baseball heroes. Tony Oliva, Rod Carew, and Harmon Killebrew. I'm a Twins fan!
@jcarlin: when i was still teen, met my hero up to that point, Randall Cunningham. Loved him! Always wanted to meet Harry Kalas, too

And just to brag -- this week's #AgeOp chat was one of the highest trending topics, beating out the Jonas Brothers, LeBron and The Office!
