If You Are Coasting, You Are Going Downhill!!

The Two Faces of "E"

You can have your cake and eat it too, just not at the same time!

Picture this scenario: A scholarly, award-winning college professor of business and economics at a small Dominican-owned private college and a successful corporate trainer whose clients include some large national and international companies, and an author of a popular monthly business column writes a romance novel at the age of 53. Not only is it written…it’s been published! And even better than that…it’s a really good book.

No…that isn’t the plot of the novel…that’s the story of Elaine Estervig Beaubien’s life. From the corporate boardroom and college classroom to the world of romance and suspense…from the pragmatic and practical to the provocative and romantic. Now that is a paradigm shift!

Elaine Estervig Beaubien has been living winters in Florida since she semi-retired from teaching and corporate training in 2000 and decided to reinvent her life, re-evaluate her work, and redefine her passions. And instead of moving forward on the journey she so successfully laid out over her 30-year career, she completely jumped the track.

Professor Beaubien is in the college classroom in the fall, teaching the Law of Supply and Demand, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership and Contemporary Business Practices to graduate and undergraduate students at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition, this high-energy woman concurrently enters the corporate world as a professional trainer and consultant. Her clients include such diverse companies as Harley-Davidson, Rayovac, Oscar Mayer, Bayer, The Peabody Hotel, and Firstar Bank. As an internationally renowned public speaker, she presents to large audiences on employee retention, leadership, communication, and motivation. In between assignments, she writes a monthly business column read and collected by thousands of readers. (Please visit her website at www.elainetrain.com for more information.)

Then suddenly in the last few years, like Diana Prince, who removes her public persona to become Wonder Woman, Professor Beaubien sheds her briefcase, PowerPoint presentations, and class notes to become…E. K. Barber, writer of romantic fiction. She taps away at her computer creating lively, appealing characters engaged in action and adventure as they move through an intriguing and interesting plot. Her books are known for strong female characters of all ages, intense and satisfying romantic tension, a strong cast of supporting characters, interesting stories, intelligent and humorous dialogue, and a positive context of friendship and family relationships.

E. K.’s first novel, Flight Into Danger, led to a sequel, Flight Into Terror, and that was so much fun, she continued to write until Flight Into Fate/Flight Into Destiny was born. And there is no end in sight.
