As music lovers celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love, author and renowned music critic Joel Selvin is remembering that revolutionary summer.

He's the author of "Summer of Love," and for the past three decades, he has covered the Bay Area music scene for the San Francisco Chronicle.

He talked to Growing Bolder about the forces that combined to make the Haight-Ashbury the center of the music universe and which artists he still believes are relevant today.
