Watching Tiger Win On Two Wheels
Posted June 14, 2008, 5:41 pm in Cycling by Growing Bolder
The morning started with a surprise. I managed to stay in bed to 6. There were many factors that helped. One being no internet. I knew it was impossible to update anything or answer emails. Also no in room coffee to make. The reason most was I couldn't move. Everything hurt. At 6 I Walked down to the restaurant next to Hotel all own by same people and I hooked up an IV. I ate breakfast served by a delightful young woman named Emily.
I knew after how I felt. All the days, miles, hills, mountains, emotions, missing Nyle, winds, years, miles I needed a little break. I made a choice to go to Fort Frances and get a place for the night. Get into room and relax. Also I could catch the remaining 9 holes of the US Open Golf Tournament. Won by Tiger Woods. His 14th Major, 4 away from tying Jack Nicklaus.
The ride to Fort Frances was hilly at first, then evened out before some bigger hills came along. It did start looking more like Minnesota. I will be in the States tomorrow. Not for long though. I will go to Toronto first.
I must make mention of an Email I received from the Outreach Director of the Minnesota Epilepsy Foundation. Her name is Mary Giese. She didn't take kindly to my words of "rude" and "sad'. I am sorry for defining what I thought was a snub of my efforts when in fact Mary has followed and been with me in spirit. I meant no disrespect to her and the wonderful job they do for all living with Epilepsy in Minnesota. They are currently working on their Camp Oz where over 100 living with epilepsy get to go. I am hoping after they see my updated route later on the main page that I could be met by someone or something. Thank you and Again I am sorry for the words I chose wrongly to use.
I am now 5222 miles into trip. I am avg just over 104 miles per day. I am 2878 miles from the final mile. My current ETA is for July 10th.
