What's On Your Bucket List?

Posted December 27, 2007, 5:20 pm in Movies by Growing Bolder

What would you do if you knew your life was about to end? That's the premise of a new movie, starring some Hollywood heavyweights who are all about Growing Bolder in their real and make-believe worlds. In The Bucket List, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play two terminally ill cancer patients who don't want to end their lives stuck in a hospital. They break out and do all the things they never did before they were diagnosed -- all before they "kick the bucket." Get it? The bucket list.

Director Rob Reiner leads the way with this tale of friendship, forged as both men try and fit all of the experiences of a lifetime into an ever-closing window of time. Edward Cole (Nicholson) and Carter Chambers (Freeman) don't seem to have a lot in common. Cole is a billionaire, while Chambers is a mechanic. Chambers is happily married, and Cole is a serial divorcee. But they end up in the same hospital room, where they learn they have shared goals -- everything from eating caviar to racing cars to skydiving.

Media outlets all over the country are picking up on the story. The New York Times calls the movies "Geezers Gone Wild," while others are asking readers to think about their own bucket list.
