The Divine Miss M.
Posted February 22, 2008, 12:44 pm in Music by Growing BolderThe Divine Miss M. is at it again, with a new show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Bette Midler stars in "The Showgirl Must Go On," and it recently premiered to a sold-out crowd. Midler brings back some of her favorite characters for the repertoire -- including Delores Delago, the wheelchair-bound mermaid, and Soph, the oldest living showgirl in Las Vegas. At 62 years old, Midler certainly hasn't lost her flair for the dramatic, saying ""I've been hoarding feathers and fans and sequins and rhinestones for the last 50 years and, hey, I'm throwing 'em all on stage."
Midler's not alone on the stage. She's supported by the Harlettes, a 13-piece band, and 20 female dancers. Those dancers are organized by another woman who's Growing Bolder -- 64-year-old Toni Basil, best known for her '80s dance song "Mickey."
