On July 3, 1971: Poet, singer, and songwriter Jim Morrison of The Doors died in Paris at the age of 27. Morrison is considered one of the most charismatic and influential frontmen in rock history. In the official account of his death, he was found in a Paris apartment bathtub by longtime companion Pamela Courson. Courson told police Morrison died of a heroin overdose but no autopsy was performed because the medical examiner claimed to have found no evidence of foul play. The absence of an official autopsy has left many questions regarding Morrison's cause of death.
