Growing Bolder's Pat Williams Battling Cancer

This week, we learned a member of the Growing Bolder family is battling cancer.

Pat Williams, an NBA executive, motivational speaker and the author of nearly 70 books, revealed to the Orlando Sentinel that he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in January. The aggressive form of cancer is inoperable and incurable but it is treatable. Pat told the Sentinel's Mike Bianchi that he is undergoing chemo to treat the disease (Click here to read Bianchi's entire story about Pat's cancer).

And, in typical Pat fashion, he's already come up with a mantra to guide him through this health crisis: "The mission is remission."

He posted this message on his Facebook page the day after he shared his news with the Sentinel:

Thank you so much for all of your love and support. I am grateful for your prayers and encouragement. I am in good spirits am a focused completely on the challenge ahead; I will battle this disease head-on. I am in outstanding medical hands. I will keep a positive attitude, and I will stay close to the Lord. I am moving forward with confidence that we will get this illness into remission. The mission is remission!

His words couldn't be more timely and we know that he'll draw upon lessons like this to carry him through his war against cancer. We're proud to have you on our team, Pat, and we're all cheering you on!
