Honor Those Who Served Boldly
Posted November 10, 2008, 8:53 pm in VeteransThis week, America pauses to honor the men and women who have served so bravely and selflessly to guarantee all Americans enjoy the rights and freedoms our founders imagined.
From 1938 until 1954, November 11 was known as Armistice Day. It was established to mark the end of World War I, which officially took place on November 11, 1918. The day was dedicated to "the cause of world peace and to be hereafter celebrated and known as 'Armistice Day.'" But after the second World War and the Korean War, Congress amended the act to change the word from Armistice to Veterans and it became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.
Take a moment this week to learn about some men and women who boldly served their country with honor. Visit our Veterans Channel and check out the stories below.
