- Increase your physical activity. Exercise stimulates blood flow and boosts hormones. The brain likes that.
- Cross-train your brain. Mix it up because doctors say no single activity can sustain mental acuity.
- Socialize. If you live in isolation, you drastically increase the risk of developing dementia.
- Chill out. Stress hormones kill brain cells. You need them.
- Sleep in. We're a sleep-deprived society. Sleep deprivation is harmful to the brain.
- Just say no. Nicotine, drugs and alcohol decrease the blood flow in the brain and can cause premature aging.
- Take supplements. Research shows that Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil) and a good multiple vitamin promote brain health.

Posted 4:42pm June 18th, 2009I have been working in the brain fitness space since 2001 and we have come along way. There has been significant scientific studies over the last 5 years that illustrate how we can maintain and develop our cognitive skills through our lifespan. Our company has started to launch pilots that provide more efficacy to our software. I truly believe the next 5 years will see a lot of positive developments in this area.
