In 1962: Jack Paar hosts NBC's "Tonight Show" for the last time.

In 1971: A Los Angeles, California jury recommends the death penalty for Charles Manson and three female followers for the 1969 Tate-La Bianca murders. The sentences are later commuted.

In 1973: Dr. Hook and The Medicine Show get their picture on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine after their hit, "The Cover of Rolling Stone," reaches No. 6 on the U.S. singles chart. According to members of the group, they really did buy five copies of the magazine for their mothers, just like the song said.

In 1980: The Bee Gees are sued by Chicago antique dealer and part-time songwriter, Ronald Selle, who alleges the Bee Gees' hit song "How Deep is Your Love" plagiarizes two sections of a song he wrote called "Let It End." Selle wins the case even though the Bee Gees claim they never heard the song and it was all just a coincidence. The group successfully appeals the decision three years later.

In 1987: Wrestlemania III sets a World Indoor Attendance Record at the Pontiac Silverdome with 93,173 fans. The record could be broken this Sunday, when Wrestlemania makes its way to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

In 2005: Attorney Johnnie Cochran dies at age 67. He's best known for his work on O.J. Simpson's infamous murder case.
