International Recognition for GB
Posted July 28, 2009, 9:37 amThe Growing Bolder message has reached all around the world. It's a philosophy that seems to ring true everywhere: It's never too late to live your dream, to have new experiences, to overcome challenges, to break barriers, to continue learning, to live life to the fullest. Now this from the Land Down Under. Journalist Eric Shackle, see bio below has chosen to extend special recognition to GrowingBolder.com. We humbly thank him for the award! Here is what Eric wrote:
"These days, millions of baby boomers enjoy exploring the Internet, and hundreds of websites are offering them valuable guidance and entertainment. As publishers of the world's first multi-national e-book (now a blog), Life Begins at 80 http://lifebginsat80.blogspot.com/ , we believe we should encourage these admirable youngsters (hey, some of them are only in their 50s!) So we have great pleasure in presenting a GRAYPOW Award to the outstanding website GrowingBolder.com."
Eric Shackle is a retired journalist whose hobby is searching the Internet and writing about it. He is author of The World's First Multi-National e-Book, http://www.bdb.co.za/shackle. His work has been published by the New York Times (US), The Observer (UK), Globe and Mail (Canada), Sydney Morning Herald (Australia) and Straits Times (Singapore). He writes a regular column for senior citizen webzines in UK, Canada, South Africa and Australia, and is copy editor of Anu Garg's Seattle-based A Word A Day free newsletter, which is e-mailed five days a week to more than 600,000 wordlovers in 210 countries.

Posted 3:06pm July 29th, 2009Another story that put a smile on my face. This makes me wish, as I have for the past 11 years, that my mother (77) and father (soon to be 79) were connected to the internet.
I write a newsletter about 3 times a year for my town's residents age 50+. I wish more over age 60 were connected to the internet. I'm amazed how many still are not exploring the interesting and exciting worldwide web. Maybe they are afraid of what is not familiar to them?
