Nobel Prize-winning chemist.  In 1987, Fenn reached the mandatory retirement age at Yale, where he was teaching at the time, but campaigned for the right to stay on and continue his research. His discoveries led directly to the development of life-saving AIDS medications.

After The Age of Seventy
  • At age 70, began work on what would in time become his Nobel Prize-winning discovery.
  • At age 76, Fenn joined Virginia Commonwealth University as professor of analytical chemistry
  • At age 85, won the Nobel Prize for chemistry
  • At age 85, won the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities Award for outstanding contributions to Biomolecular Technologies.
