Pablo Picasso is born. The father of cubism is still prolific at the age of 87 when his works become even more daring, colorful and expressive. Dismissed as "the incoherent scribblings of a frenetic old man," after his death, critics realize he had created a whole new style -- neo-expressionism. He creates with unabated vigor until his death at 91.
