Posted October 30, 2008, 5:33 amToday is Thursday, October 30th, the 304th day of 2008
On Oct. 30th, 1938, the radio play "The War of the Worlds," starring Orson Welles, aired on CBS. The live drama, with fake breaking news reports, panicked some listeners who thought the Martian invasion was real.
Today's Birthdays: Rock singer Grace Slick is 69. Actor Ed Lauter is 68. Rhythm-and-blues singer Otis Williams (The Temptations) is 67. Actor Henry Winkler is 63. Actor Harry Hamlin is 57. Actor Kevin Pollak is 51.
Picture of the Day: The worst resturant concept ever. This is not a joke. A Taiwanese chain of restaurants fetures toilet seats for diners to sit on, urinal-shaped lamps and meals served in mini-toilet bowls. Owner Eric Wang says, "Most customers think the more disgusting and exaggerated the restaurant is, the funnier the dining experience is." Wang adds, "The top orders are curry hot pot and chocolate ice cream because they look most like the real thing."
