Remember to say, "Thanks."
Posted June 6, 2009, 6:17 amAs dawn broke on June 6, 1944, Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France in the largest single-day beach invasion in history - an invasion that began the liberataton of Western Europe from Nazi occupation. 57,000 U.S. Army troops waded ashore on Omaha Beach and nearly 3,000 lost their lives that day. Very few veterans of Omaha Beach are alive today. Overall, World War II veterans are dying at a rate of about 1,000 a day. Of the 16.1 million servicemen and women who participated in that war, less than 2.5 million survive. If you know one, say "thanks."

Posted 8:46am June 7th, 2009The numbers are so impressive, and each of those soldiers had their own story, their own lives that they gave. They will not be forgotten as what they did, was fantastic. Be assured the rememberance will stay. Now I am from way after WW2 but I was taught about what happened: How come my generation and the next have always lived in freedom, in peace in the Netherlands, it was thanks to those liberators. So I also want to say Thanks! Thank you very much! If you hadn't done what you did... You saved many peoples lives and futures. Words are never enough.
