What's in your garage?

I have an 89 Mustang GT in my garage that is not running right now but I don't plan on letting it go. This summer I will be towing it home to upstate NY though. Unfortunately restoring her is not in my near future. For now I've been playing with my new/used 2006 Nissan Xterra. I picked it up in August of 08. I'll update this with some pictures later.

where in upstate NY?  (used to live in the Binghamton, JC, Whitney Point area - still have lots of friends/relatives up there.)  just don't let the rust get to it there!  Wish I had a garage for my 58 Citation and 92 Camero - both run, Camero is Grandma's Hot Rod and my daily driver!  LOVE IT!

I lived in Watkins Glen for all of my life until I moved here to FL back in 2004. My Dad lives in Elmira now so It'll be garage kept and definitely kept off the salted roads! I bought the car the beginning of my HS senior year in 1998. It was always my second car when I lived in NY, never drove in winter (supposedly the prior owner never drove it winter either), it looks that way, very little rust compared to most NY cars.

I moved to FL and was not really able to keep up having two cars or even getting both of them here easily. And really.. when would I want to drive my winter beater seeings though I was in FL now.. haha.  I had converted my engine fan over to electric and last August it stoped working on one of the hottest days. I ran it anyway, and caused some pretty major mechanical damage to the engine. I got with in pushing distance of my home  that day.

I didn't feel to bad, it needs an engine replacement/rebuild anyway. Just no time for it at the moment. My dad is a mechanic so if he feel's like it, he'll have something to work on.

A friend found what I was looking for 20 years ago. A 1951 Ford  pick up truck. It only needed a frame off restoration  and 10 years of weekends and vacation days and maybe sixteen  million dollars. I've been retired for 7 seven years and it is now  my main ride .We moved to a small town 100 miles west of Houston where we worked and lived .It's great for running back roads with the old flat-head V-8 and three on the floor. Also adds character to our town. There are 8 other restored vehicles around the area and we try to go to town on weekends ,it helps draw people into town and stop at the antique stores and shops.
I've met so many nice people around the country when I was building it and when I need to replace a piece or two.Parts aren't easy to find anymore. It has been lots of fun and I'll never sell it.

We have a real nice car club here in Camp County (smallest county in Texas) - we're planning a car show here in Pittsburg (very small, 'antique' town - home of the famous Pittsburg Hot Links!) - and you and your other Classic Car buffs are invited!  Love to see your Antique cars - there will be a parade, as this is during Chick Fest on September 19 (we're also the home of Pilgrim's Pride) whoopie.  When we get the 'Applications' ready, I will send you a copy.

           Hi Gerrye
I'd like to thank you for the response.  You can send an app. How are addresses exchanged on Growing Bolder?
Also can you let me know where Camp county is relative to the 1000 or more counties in our wonderful state?

To keep things private you can message each other. Just view his profile page and hit send message, the person you are sending it to will be the only one to see the message. Also, if you guys are friends, you can go to your 'send' option in your mail center (myhome) and they should be in the drop down list of people you can send the message to.

I am jealous of the 1951 ford. Before buying my latest vehicle I wanted a classic truck, I had a bead on an amazing restored f100 with a big block v8, but could never reach the owner, never picked up the phone etc. probably sold it faster than they could post it for sale. I'll own a classic truck someday.

I have had 3 Dodge Grand Caravans.  The first had 317,000 miles on it before I sold it to someone who would still use it every day.  The engine never had any work done on it and it didn't burn oil!.  It had a new transmission at 160,000, new right hand front end suspension.  That's it other than brakes and tires.  I have always had an oil change every 3,000 miles using Pennzoil 5-20 in the beginning ( to about 200,000 miles ) or 10-30.  The second caravan got 227,000 and was still in perfect shape when I traded it in on my present van.  They will last it they are taken care of !!
