About Me

My name is Tom Snyders. I am known as "The Bicycling Comedian because I have been pedaling a fully-loaded touring bicycle to my stand-up comedy performances and speaking engagements for the past 25 years. In that time I have pedaled to, and throughout, all 50 states (Hawaii was not easy), and in 34 countries on six continents. On a recent, solo, bike trek from Cancun, Mexico to Ushuaia, Argentina, I broke the 150,000 mile mark of bicycle touring. I've performed in more than 200 comedy clubs in America, Canada, Europe and Australia. I've also  done ten national television appearances.

My strange specialty is traveling great distances by fully-loaded touring bicycle, taking photos of funny road signs, and videos of unique and funny people and situations on the backroads of America and the world. I have a new one-man show called, "You Can't Bring that Bike in Here!" I carry a 1.8 pound LED light multimedia projector in my panniers, and show the best of my funny road signs and video clips in the show. And, after 25 years on the road, I have stories to tell.

I feel very fortunate to be living my dream, and can't think of anything better than traveling around the country to make people laugh.

Family

I am from a family of six kids. My Mom, Dad, and most of my brothers and sisters live in Illinois. My brother Pete lives in Florida. I am on the road on the bike about half the year, and now spend the winter months in Key West, Florida. I just had a nice two week visit with my family in Illinois.

Goals

My main goal is to never be an old man sitting somewhere saying, "I wish I would have" -- or -- "What would have happened if..?"

I also want to do one more perimeter tour of America by bicycle. Then I would like to share my hard won knowledge of the best and worst practices of bicycle infrastructure and bike safety policies in all 50 states an in 34 countries on six continents by becoming a Bicycle/ Pedestrian Coordinator for a medium sized town or city.

People I'd like to meet

People who have a passion for what they do.
