What is Vaudeville?
There was nothing like a good Vaudeville Show! Popular from 1870-1930, American Vaudeville shows or revues consisted of classical and popular music, singers, instrumentalists, dancers, acrobats, comedians, animal tricks and a variety of other unique acts. The "Polite" Vaudeville Shows were the most popular established by Benjamin Keith in the 1880's.. He maintained a "fixed policy of cleanliness...
Ferry trip from Hell
First things first. Our road trip plans began with booking a
reservation on the Alaska Marine Highway. It has been a few years since
we took a ferry trip; in the old days, we never booked a stateroom.
Instead we would bring sleeping bags and sleep wherever we could find a
spot. On the sundeck, in one of the lounges. So, our long list of firsts
for this trip will include having a...
We had quite the interesting weather this weekend. Yesterday began in the mid 40's with heavy rain. The temperature dropped to 30 by evening and the rain changed to snow. We received at least 2 inches at our house. The 11pm news reported at least 12 accidents along I-70 in Licking County. Today, the sun is shining and the snow has all but melted with temperatures in the mid 40's. What a difference...

Scott Fitzgerald published The Great...

After a particularly unusual and harsh winter, people all over the country are rejoicing at the arrival of warmer weather. But along with all the joy that comes with spring weather comes more roofing woes. Often it isn't until spring when problems with your roof manifest themselves. When the snow and ice melts is when roof leaks are discovered. This isn't the first time this winter that warmer...
still walking in the fresh air
I've been away from Growing Bolder for a while. But there is one thing that I'm still doing and that is walking. Remember I had said months ago that it is good to do some exercise at least 30 minutes a day every day. I have now been doing this for 600 straight days. I feel great and I get plenty of fresh air especially down here in Florida. It is good to get outside to...
Why Socializing Benefits the Mind and Body
It’s always good to have a variety of social activities in your life. Did you know that getting together with friends, going to the movies, having someone over for dinner or simply enjoying conversations with other people, all add up to improved health benefits?
Socializing can be a challenge for people who live alone and no longer drive or have health issues that limit their ability to get out...
