It's official, HD-DVD is dead.  I'm so relieved I went with Blu-Ray six months ago.  It was not a decision I took lightly, since my mother still has about a hundred beta tapes at home.  HD-DVD fans will likely get a good deal on existing stock of that format, and if they keep their machines in working order, they should enjoy their collection for years to come.   We all know that some other format will come out in 5-10 years or so, right?
