It's the hottest rumor going today, that Led Zeppelin will reform without lead singer Robert Plant, record a new studio album and then tour with the fill-in singer. So where do rumors like that come from?

In this case, straight from Jimmy Page's manager, Peter Mensch. Just yesterday, (Jan 6) he made headlines when he told the BBC that the band was indeed searching for a new singer to record and tour with. But that was yesterday.

In an interview today with Music Radar, Mensch flipped out. In what was described as more of a tirade, he announced that any plans for Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham to tour and record an album without Robert Plant is, "completely over now."

Music Radar quotes Page's manager as emphatically stating, "Led Zeppelin are over! If you didn't see them in 2007, you missed them. It's done. I can't be any clearer than that."

So wherever did we get the idea that they were NOT over? Oh, yeah, from YOU, Peter!

As for Plant, he has made clear that his schedule is such that he would not even be able to consider working with the band again for at least two more years.

Again, Mensch did admit to Music Radar that the band did indeed audition several new frontmen, but added that's no reason for anyone to think they're up to anything. "No one worked out. That was it. The whole thing is completely over now."

So do we believe him? Or will he change his mind again tomorrow?

“There are absolutely no plans for them to continue," said Mensch. "Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it.”

We would, Peter, if only YOUR song would remain the same.
