Reality Music Shows

Can you believe at my age I love watching the reality shows?  Mostly the ones with music and dance.  I started watching American Idol in it's second season.  Then I found Nashville Star which is more my style since I love country music.  So when this seasons first show aired last night,  I was right there in front of the TV.  And then to my surprise and delight I actually knew one of the contestants.  Shawn Mayer.  She is 21 and very talented.  She writes her own songs and plays guitar.

I met Shawn on one of my jaunts to Music City, Nashville.  I was having my picture taken with some friends in front of the famous Tootsie's Orchard Lounge, when the then 16 year old told us she was going to be singing at Tootsie's in about an hour and to come watch her.  So we figured might as well.  We all just loved her.  We all became friends and I even made her first website for her.  This past year she moved to Nashville and I was so excited for her as that was her dream to move to Nashville and be discovered.  Well,  don't you know it, I was up late last night voting.  So when she makes the big time, remember you heard of her here on GB first.

I'll be adding a photo of Shawn to my profile page.

It's always nice to see the talents of young people before they hit the big time. I know you probably don't know this group but when I worked in Boston I got the chance to see "New Edition" give their very first performance before an audience. I knew right then and there they were going to go on to be huge successes in the R&B world---they were a teeny bopper group similar to the Osmonds and Jackson 5.
