Poor Norma (Strait)

  I think I've discovered why the George and Norma Strait marriage has lasted so long. 

  George and Norma will be celebrating 38 years of holy matrimony in 2009.  Quite an accomplishment when you consider that a majority of us mere mortals refer to our mismatched unions in more secular terms of varying degrees of emotions and temperatures.

  Like more than a few other women, I have determined Norma to be a "Lucky Lady". But....now......I will forever refer to her as "Poor Norma".  I need to explain.

   George has said that he loves country music, but it is not his whole life.  Also, he claims that he rarely picks up a guitar at home.  Oh, my.  Does that mean that to hear his songs, Norma has to resort to CDs and the radio, just like us fans?  Does she attend every concert in order to see him singing?  Poor Norma.

  So.  Maybe they have an agreement so as to keep the home "fires" burning.  He sings her ONE song every day.  IN PERSON. 

  The reason the marriage is guaranteed to endure?  Well......Norma has to wait OVER A YEAR to hear her favorites again.....you know......#'s 25, 156, 182, 201, 340, 465 - etc!!!  In his over 30 years of singing, the man has created quite an extensive collection to work through.

  And, George, being the kind, enabling hubby that he is, keeps adding to his repertoire, so Norma has to wait even longer for her favs!

  Poor Norma.
