Warning: This Site Isn't What You Think

Proceed with caution. I know what I'm talking about. I've done my research. I've been to nearly every 50-plus nook and cranny of cyberspace and let me tell you… This one is way out of the ordinary. Here are some of the reasons that stand out right away.

It doesn't smell old: I've dug pretty deep into the site and I have yet to find the words "senior citizen". I did find the word "boomer" but even that isn't used very often. Can you imagine that? How are we supposed to know it's for us without being shoved into a category?

And the photos. Where are all the stock shots of jolly older couples holding hands on the beach? None here. Growing Bolder shots are all about attitude. Almost makes me want to get involved in something. It's been a while since I felt like that.

The content is outrageous: A 109 year old blogger? A 92 year old barefoot skier? Triathletes, educators, experts, thought leaders, celebrities, musicians and writers. They even have gurus for gosh sakes! Growing Bolder is about making waves. How many other sites do that?

It's full of video and audio: Now this really takes some getting used to! In the old days, we had dial-up. We watched the words load line by line. Now, Growing Bolder actually shows us these people in action, lets us hear their thoughts straight from their own mouths.

And instead of sneaking in a few YouTube videos, these guys do their own content. Superior video quality, photography, editing and storytelling? On the internet? And where do they find all these people and all these stories? You could spend weeks on this site and not see it all.

The past takes a back seat to the present: Growing Bolder believes the here and now trump nostalgia and reminiscing. Some sites believe we'd rather wallow in our memories of yesterday. Instead, Growing Bolder talks about planning for the future, starting new careers, living new adventures.

And here's an unusual twist. They include all ages: There are actually stories on Growing Bolder that include people under 50! And here's the clincher, some of the members actually are under 50. As the kids like to say, whatup with that? Again, Growing Bolder thinks we like to hang with peole of all ages.
And even more out there, GB seems to believe that younger people will think we're cool enough to hang with, too!

I know what's going to happen next. You're going to want to start your own personal profile page and become an actual Growing Bolder member. Sure, you'll have something hip to show off to your kids and grandkids. Yes, you'll be plugged in to a vibrant, thought provoking, life affirming community. You'll be joining groups and even starting some, finding people who share your interests. You'll be making new friends, from around the corner and from around the world. Who knows? It might even push you in directions you never thought possible. So go ahead and join. Start Growing Bolder. But don't say I didn't warn you!
