This Bird's No Fool

As I was sitting in my office, an associate came in and said there was a bird sitting on a carton in the trailer she had just opened. I came out to look and yes, a dove sat quietly on top of a carton staring right at me. A guy came by thinking he was cool and said “watch me I’ll handle this” and proceeded to nonchalantly try to sit right down next to the bird to see if he could talk the bird into coming with him voluntarily so he could capture it. He had just gotten close when the bird did his doo on the carton and flew to the back of the 53’ trailer. Okay, I said “now look what you did”, laughing of course. I decided that I need to call in the big guns so we called our trusty Maintenance guy. Surely he could handle this bird who had taken possession of this trailer. We called the trailer out a few feet from the dock. I shut the dock door and he climbed into the trailer to shoo it out. He yelled okay. I started to lift up the dock door only to see the bird sitting right on the dock in front of the trailer door ready to fly back in. I quickly shut the door but was laughing so hard I was starting to cry. The bird did fly away on it’s own bringing a happy ending to the story or so we thought. We called the truck back in, opened the door and abracadabra, there he was right where he started in the first place. We all stood in disbelief as he looked at us like "what's all the fuss about?" There was a hole in the roof of the trailer and this bird was no fool. He flew back up into the hole in the roof and proceeded to take ownership of the carton he originally sat on. We finally caught the bird with an empty carton and let the bird fly out as everyone cheered. Our Maintenance guy did capture it and let it go outside but not before we all got a good laugh and a sigh of relief.
