Slowly, quietly she creeps

Onto the scene, doing away

With heat, early light and green,

Dismissing them the way

A colorfully dressed,

Spectacularly beautiful woman

Waves away an errant waiter,

For this is her season, her time,

And she is in command,

Causing lovers to be more loving,

Making nights cool and clear

And days bathed in glorious,

Golden, diffused light,

Reminiscent of the ethereal,

Romantic sun of Tuscany,

Inspiring appreciation in everyone

And creativity in artistic souls.

Her riotous rule will,

Inevitably, come to an end

As it does each year,

Giving way to hoary Winter

And her arctic blasts

But for now, Autumn reigns

And we revel in her grandeur.
