Acts of Love in 5 minutes or less when you’re in the mood to treat some of your Favorite Senior Residents

Note: When I was selling to Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Centers years ago I would treat my nurses to these mid afternoon snacks. I easily could prepare them in just a few short minutes ahead on time. (Even the DON’s would look forward to my visits (well most of the time if I snuck heran extra dessert).

No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients: 2 cups sugar, 4 tablespoons of Cocoa, 1 stick butter, ½ cup of milk, 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, 3 cups regular oatmeal, and some wax paper

Directions: In a heavy saucepan bring to a boil, the sugar, cocoa, butter and milk. Let boil for 1 minute then add the peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal. On a sheet of waxed paper, drop mixture by the teaspoonfuls, until cooled and hardened by placing in refrigerator.

This is a no brainer, tasty, quick, wonderful surprise snack all of your senior residents will love.

No Bake Strawberry Cheesecakes

Ingredients:   1 dozen plump juicy fresh strawberries, 12 ounces of soften cream cheese, 2/3’s of a cup of sour cream, 1 cup confectioners' sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 6 individual gram cracker crusts, available in the grocery baking aisle

Directions: Coarsely chop 6 berries and place in food processor. Add cream cheese, sour cream, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract and process until smooth. Using a rubber spatula, fill pie tins. Garnish the mini cheesecakes with remaining slices of strawberries.

No Bake Chocolate Pudding Parfait

Ingredients and directions all in one:  1 box of Instant Chocolate Pudding prepared according to the box directions and set aside in the refrigerator to stiffen. Purchase 6 inexpensive plastic small to medium parfait glasses easily obtained at any Wal-Mart.  1 crushed bag of Planters Peanuts from, of course, Wal-Mart and1 small bag of mini marshmallows.

Equally divide and spoon the chocolate pudding into the parfait glasses. Then add a layer of mini marshmallows followed up by a sprinkling of crush peanuts. You can substitute the mini marshmallows with Cool Whip if you like. Either way, this is a quick easy snack that tastes heavenly good!

There you have it. Three quick and tasty snacks your senior residents will love (your kids too) when you just feel like giving them a tasty surprise or when some of your residents are down in the dumps and an act of kindness will make all the difference them in the world.

I am always looking for stuff to make with my residents .

This is great they can all help make these treats and eat them too.

They miss being in the kitchen and this will bring back happy memories for them.

    Thanks Tom  for this blog.

    Your friend in elder care....

      Sassy
